I’m so cliché

December 31st, 2006 by Summer

When I named my youngest, Atreyu, I did so happily knowing that he would have a rare and unique name. Oh sure there might be a few other weirdos in the world, but not enough to count for anything in his lifetime. (Bonus points if you can tell me where the name came from. If you’re a squealing 15 year old girl who thinks he’s named after a band who ruined a perfectly good Bon Jovi song you’re banned from my blog. If you’re a squealing 15 year old girl who doesn’t know who Bon Jovi is, well there’s really no help for you.)

Now look at this. Me, trendy! Say it isn’t so! When I named E the name barely registered on the list, afterwards it jumped to #35 for that year. And now that I finally sweet talked Dearest into my beloved Atreyu, that too has been ripped from me.

That’s it. Next kid will be named Agqrot64mk%%y. Humph! We’ll see how popular that becomes!

New Year’s resolutions

December 29th, 2006 by Summer

  • Get off my butt and away from the computer. Seriously, I spend far too much time here. I try to justify it in that I don’t spend long stretches, just short spurts. But it still adds up to too much time typing and not enough time with my boys.
  • Get back on schedule. I’m so bad about letting any little bump completely wreck the order I was trying to make. I can feel just how off we are by the constant moodiness, the tantrums, the sleep issues. Getting back into sync will help so much.
  • Clean my house! OK, so its not quite a pig sty yet. But we’re getting close. I need to reintroduce myself to FlyLady and get back in the groove of cleaning my house. For a few weeks there the house looked so good even Dearest was commenting on it. But we’ve sunk back into CHAOS (Can’t Have Anyone Over Syndrome).
  • Do more with E. Now that A is getting pas the “hold me, hold me, feed me feed me” stage and is happy to crawl around and play for a few minutes I need to spend more time with E. We’ve got finger paints, play dough, and tons of activity books just waiting for us to play with.
  • Don’t forget about myself. I need to remember to pull away a little bit of time and just hang out with me. Read in my books, take a bubble bath, write, whatever I want to do (but as far from the computer as I can). Getting more ME time will help with my own inner CHAOS.

I’ve had 2 more articles published, here and here. In fact, to read any of my articles you can go here. The more hits my writing gets the more I’m worth.

I took the boys to the library today. I always get a kick out of the fact that the librarians know me by name every time we go in. They never ask to scan my library card, and they always take the time to chat with E. In the front there is a poster of a fireman reading a book to a little girl while sitting on a fire truck, and i swear someday they’re going to give that poster to E.

One of my books came in, hopefully the rest will follow shortly. I need to begin writing my History of Childbirth paper, which promises to be an eye opening experience.

For anyone interested in a little social experiment why not try Lost. It’s an interesting social game where you try to connect to as many people as you can. Clicking the link puts you on my network and increases my score. Join in, then share your invite link with your friends to keep the game moving.

A few photos from Christmas morning

December 27th, 2006 by Summer

After some grumbling and explaining the gifts were brought to an acceptable level. The boys still made out like bandits, especially in the clothing department. I actually had to go out today and buy hangers for them. E got some nice wooden toys, a toolbox with tools, blocks, and a carrying box for crayons and coloring books (among other toys). A got a set of cloth books, a nice one that E had similar too as a baby.
