A Sad Day In Oklahoma

Sally KernI would like to share a video of Sally Kern. Sally is, unfortunately, an elected State Representative of Oklahoma. I have to say that I have never been so ashamed and disgusted by my state as I have before now. Knowing that it was Oklahomans who voted this woman into office… it just makes me shake with anger and sorrow.

If you check out her bio page you see that she is a teacher and her husband is a pastor. I don’t even want to think about how many innocent children they have influenced with their anger and hatred. That is the true cancer of society Mrs. Kern, hatred and an unquenchable anger.

One of my colleagues said We don’t have a gay problem in our community…well you know what, that is so dumb. If you have cancer in your little toe, do you just say that I’m going to forget about it since the rest of you is fine? It spreads! This stuff is deadly and it is spreading. It will destroy our young people and it will destroy this nation.

Her email address is sallykern@okhouse.gov Not that I actually think she would read it, I am sure she has plenty of people who sort out anything that isn’t praise and support so she wouldn’t actually have to face the people who are hurt by her words. But I still sent a strongly worded email to her. I don’t expect much, she has already stated that the only thing she feels sorry for is being recorded saying this.

People like her really anger and upset me. I don’t even know how to respond to that sort of bigotry.

This kind of hatred and bigotry is disgusting. I found during the lull between election season I could pretend that everyone was nice and loving. Since the election season started I am infuriated by the homophobic, mysogenistic, racist hateful stuff I am hearing coming out of conservative supposedly Christian mouths.

THAT’S what’s going to destroy our young people. That hateful attitude is synonymous with cancer in our toe!
