I’m Summer, a stay at home mom of two boys (pregnant with #3). A breastfeeding, co-sleeping, cloth diapering, attachment parenting mom. A trained doula that couldn’t handle the stress of births gone wrong after her own mishandled birth. I worked with WIC providing support and help to breastfeeding moms to keep them going as long as they could. Now I try my hand at writing a little to earn extra money while staying home with my boys.
I’m a feminist, progressive, liberal woman. I voted for Obama, socialism isn’t a dirty word to me, and if Fox news reports that the sky is blue I’ll assume it’s turned orange overnight (in other words they lie like a dog). I’m pro-choice on everything from where a woman wants to give birth to if she even wants to at all. I think freedom of religion means all religions and church should stay the hell out of politics. Got that Prop 8 supporters?
I’m a tree hugger, looking to live more sustainable and simple. I’m dreaming of a small farm somewhere, my own chickens, a family garden, and watching the sun go down while I knit. It’s the little things that should bring the most joy.
I’m pagan and proud. No, I don’t need to be witnessed to or preached at. My soul is just fine thank you very much, and if Matthew 25:34-46 is the standard then I’m sure I have a better chance of shaking hands with Jesus than most “christians” do. (See here) It’s not that I dislike Christianity, I think parts of it is beautiful. I’m just done with the people talking about love and light and using their waking moments to spread hate and destruction.
And did I mention the homeschooling?
I’m opinionated and I can shout pretty loud (hey, I gotta be loud to be heard over these kids). I am who I am, and I’m not afraid of laying it all out here. Love me or hate me, this is who I am.
