My internet connection has been pretty spotty the last few days, letting me on for a few minutes here and there but not long enough to do anything. When you write daily at several places for your income that can get a little stressful. Add to it some PMS and I’m in need of a massage and an acne treatment.
So here’s a little stress reliever. First Type-A Mom is having an anniversary contest and giving away some sweet stuff. Like, oh say, this sweet jewelry set. Check out all the prizes and enter to win.
Speaking of entering in the fun last week over at Momocrats I entered in a bag contest and won an Obama tote bag full of goodies. Yay for political swag! Now as soon as my prize comes in the mail I’ll be having a much better week.

I’ve been a little contest crazy lately, entering a bunch in hopes that I win. I’ve been so in a “gotta win something” fit this weekend that I’ve actually entered some really dumb contests. I’m not telling you what, but trust me they were things I have no reason to want at all. (First, before checking out the goodies, go read this post about API!)
To try and sooth myself after the “gimmie” weekend I’m sharing my favorite contests here. Go, enter, and if you win I want 10%.
I love this bag. I love it, love it, love it. It’s a Zosephine Diaper Bag, but this messenger style bag can be used for anything. Even a laptop.
For eco-moms The Greening Book is perfect. It’s full of little tips for teaching kids how to be little tree huggers.
We have a sizable Hispanic population here, so I try to teach Evan a few words in Spanish. Unfortunately my 4 years of it in high school left me with nothing. So I signed up for this Boca Beth Bilingual Backpack.
The boys stay up late every night, Dearest doesn’t come to bed until the sun rises, and I’m usually up late working. This is definitely a house of night owls. That’s why I love this contest to win “House Of Owls” by J. Austin Ryan.
I love to be pampered, so I am in love with these Premium Natural Body Care baskets. There are three being given away, go win one.
OK, I feel better now that I’m not hording all the goodies to myself.

A while back I was sent copies of books 1,2 and 3 of The Lucky Foot Stable series by JoAnn Dawson. This is a cute series of books for young girls (ages 9-12) that parents will actually want their kids to read. No adult topics, no hours at the mall shopping, and no mean girls are present in each of these stories. Something that is pretty darn amazing considering how prevalent these are in today’s society. Instead they are just simple stories about girls, their horses, and their adventures.
Jody and Mary, the two heroines of the books, are fun and lively full of adventure. They are real and fresh and without the ugly trappings female characters are usually written into. Both are intelligent and athletic, their connections with the horses is written much deeper than the typical “little girls and ponies” imagery we see. When adventure calls they jump in and use their own spunk to get themselves through it.
I’m not a horse person myself, I think they’re beautiful animals but I’m a bit too timid for them. So I was thrilled that the back of each book contains a glossary of horse terms. Whenever I had no clue what they were talking about I could just flip to the back of the book and find out. Even if your daughter isn’t a horse girl (like me) she can still learn something about the, and maybe even start to want one.
Right now I have a copy of Lady’s Big Surprise, Star of Wonder and A Star Discovered (was Willie To the Rescue) brand new to give away to one lucky person. All you have to do is leave a comment here telling me what was your favorite book as a child. What story drew you in and never let go?
This giveaway will run until Friday the 21st. A random comment will be choosen as the winner and announced Saturday morning.

Unless you use an adblocker or only read the feed you’ve probably noticed I have Mom Logic ads going on here. Since I get a little something from you through them I thought I would give something back to you from them. OK, so I’m not the one actually giving anything away. Mom Logic is.
Visit the giveaway page of Mom Logic for all the things they have for you to win. You could win Living Like Ed by Ed Begley Jr. Perfect for all you environmentalists and hippies, like me. Or the Shaklee Starter Kit for cleaning your house in an eco-friendly way. Stylish moms might want the Petunia Pickle Bottom Touring Tote, a cute tote bag that hooks onto strollers and carries everything mom needs. There is also the Fisher-Price Zen Collection infant seat, for when mommy needs a little Zen after holding the baby nonstop for hours. I know I wasn’t the only one that needed to put the baby down and breath for a few minutes.

They have a lot of great giveaways going on each week so visit it often. Hope you win!

I can’t believe how many people came by to win the Aveeno Positively Ageless set I was giving away. I love doing giveaways here and seeing how many people will stop by for a chance to win. If only that many people stopped by every day!
So now to choose a winner. I’m using Random.org to pick a number for the winner. Here we go:

#10 would be Michael! I’ll be emailing him to let him know. Thanks to everyone for stopping by. Come back on the 13th, I have a set of books for young girls that I’m going to be reviewing and giving away. Thanks everyone for joining in the fun!

Contest closed!
Today is Leap Day, that extra day that comes only once every four years. What if you could take the entire day to do what ever you wanted? What if today was treated like an extra day where everyone could just kick back and enjoy? What would you do with an extra day all to yourself?
To celebrate leap year this year Aveeno commissioned a survey asking just this. The results were not that surprising for us moms. One half of the women they surveyed said they would take that extra day to get more sleep or pamper themselves. Moms were the ones most asking for this extra day of rest with 73% dreaming of a extra day of rest in the year. What else did Aveeno find in their survey? That 65% of American women are skimping out on caring for their skin, spending only 30 minutes or less each day doing so. And I’ll admit it, I’m one of those. I do a quick wash, maybe a little lotion if I’m feeling the need, and then I’m off chasing the boys and just too busy to worry about the rest.
What if you could pamper yourself every day while you sleep? Sure, it’s not an extra day to relax but it could be a start right? Introducing Aveeno’s new Positively Ageless Lifting & Firming products. Use their Lifting and Firming Night Cream to pamper your skin while you are still getting sleep. Anything that I can do while I am sleeping scores big points in my book. You just rub it in, go to bed, and let the cream do all the work. Perfect for exhausted moms like me.
Of course the collection includes more than just the night cream. There is also a Lifting and Firming Eye Cream, to help carry those dark bags under every moms’ eyes from lack of sleep and stress, and a Lifting and Firming Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 to use during the day to keep your skin soft and protected from the sun. All three of these products are made with the natural benefits of wheat and shiitake mushrooms. They are hypoallergenic and gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Now, if you’ve made it this far I have a special treat for you. I’m not just talking up Aveeno’s Lifting and Firming product line because I’ve got skincare issues. Right now, I want to hear about your issues. What would you do with an extra day all to yourself? Would you spend the day pampering yourself or get some much needed rest? Leave me a comment and let me know how you would spend your extra day in the year. One lucky person will be chosen at random to win the complete Aveeno Lifting and Firming product line. One jar of the night cream, one jar of the eye cream, and one bottle of the daily moisturizer.

Here are the rules:
- Only comment per person will count
- Write about this contest on your blog for an additional entry.
- Contest open until March 4th, winner will be selected and announced on March 5th.
- Winner chosen at random.
- Prize will be mailed by an Aveeno affiliate, I have no control over how or when.
