Clean My House, Please
I like to think that I’m pretty good as this housewife stuff. You know, except for the fact that I curse too much, can barely cook, think my kids are plotting world domination, often don’t get dressed until 4 in the afternoon, can’t keep up on laundry, and the kitchen is always a mess.
OK, scratch that “good” part.
I’ll just declare myself queen of the procrastinators. I seriously have a problem getting things done in a timely manner. There’s over 60 emails in my inbox that need to be replied to, two baskets of clean laundry that needs to be put away, dishes still sitting in the drainer after I washed them yesterday, and don’t even ask about the ones sitting in the sink that need to be washed still.
Why do today what you can ignore until tomorrow. That’s my motto around here.
I’ve tried all the “create good habits” stuff, done FlyLady, tried to force myself into a schedule and make myself keep up with things. And I fall flat on my face every time. I can get a good start, psych myself up for short spurts of cleaning, but then I burn out. I need a back up, someone who waits on the sidelines for me to bounce off and then swoops in and finishes what I didn’t get done. Like putting up the laundry that I washed and folded, or the dishes that I got as far as the drainer. Or someone that will move the furniture for me so I feel motivated to vacuum.
Dearest tries, but he’s gotten lazier over the years (like me), and I think he’s gotten tired of having to finish the things I start. To me it sounds like a great arrangement, neither of us has to do the entire job. But the half finished cleaning is more annoying to him than me just not doing it at all. Aren’t we a great team?
Since it’s not likely that we’ll be hiring a maid anytime soon or just hoping from one vacation rentals to the next, I guess I’m going to have to actually make more of an effort to clean. I know, I know. But drastic times call for drastic measures. And who knows, it might be a step in the right direction for me. Maybe I’ll even start getting out of my pajamas befopre noon. Baby steps here people, baby steps.

Well… you’ve basically described me, there. Why do you think I’m on here, reading your blog, when the house is a total tip?

Uh, me too! I’m doing good if we’re all dressed with teeth brushed before dinner.
We created a type of schedule here that works most of the time. Well, it works when I actually do it
For 1 hour a day, I take the timer and just clean one zone and do what I can. When the timer goes off then that’s it. If the whole thing is not done then I just get back to it on the next scheduled day.
The rest of the house is broken down into zones as well, each at 20 mins which adds up to another hour. Using the timer there too.
So, all in all it’s two hours of nothing but cleaning a day but with the timer it lets me focus on just cleaning.

I need to set up a schedule like that. But really, I’m too lazy to stick with it. LOL
I can only agree with all of you… With Ruth especially.
I just can’t seem to want to clean and cook for visitors when the children are around or especially are idle. I can’t do it.
God… Help me!!!!!
