Creative Writing Paper For Young Kids
Evan likes writing short stories. Of course at his age a short story is about 2 sentences, but that’s OK. It’s the thrill of the words that I love. He also like to draw pictures about his stories. Unfortunately the two aren’t always compatible. Lined paper for writing isn’t fun to draw on he says, and blank paper for drawing makes him get nervous about his writing. So I wanted paper that was blank on top and lined on the bottom.
Sure, they make paper like that. If you’re willing to pay for it. But I’m cheap frugal, so made some myself.
The top half is blank and the bottom has 4 lined for writing. Large spaced lines with a center line for my little beginner writer. And since it’s saved on my computer I can just print out a page whenever he wants. I try to print it out on the front and back so not to waste space, but sometimes he wants the back blank to draw larger pictures on.
Keeping several sheets under the coffee table with his crayons and pencils works perfectly for him. Evan just suddenly runs to the table to do a little writing and drawing as he pleases.
And he doesn’t even realize it’s educational.
Feel free to save and print my sheet or make your own. And check out more Works For Me Wednesday tips at We Are That Family.

What a simple but great idea! I love it.
Great idea! Ya know, there are lots of great web sites that offer templates of stuff like that for free (even graph paper, which I rescued my lil bro’s homework with one night).
Stop by and visit me over at Free2BeFrugal.
I love great ways to save money for my grandkids’ homeschooling programs. Thanks for the tip.
