Diet Egg Nog

egg nogI love egg nog. I’ve loved it since I was a little girl. Every year around this time my uncle would buy a carton of egg nog from the store and we would drink it together while watching Christmas movies. The problem is now that I’m an adult I can see how fattening egg nog is. Have you seen how many calories ar in one glass? I can feel my thighs expanding just holding the carton!

So if you’re like me; loves egg nog, has a wide butt; here is an option that tastes just as good and you won’t need to buy new pants because of.

  • 4 cups skim milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tsp sugar
  • nutmeg

Mix all the ingredients except the nutmeg and whip until foamy. Pour into glasses and spinkle with nutmeg. Serves 4. And at only 144 calories each it’s not the end of the world. Which is good when you’re already looking at all that rich, fattening food being served.

Now, I’ve seen another recipe that is even lower on the calorie scale but I haven’t tried it myself. So if you’re really wanting some egg nog but need to cut more calories this is for you. Just remember that I don’t know how it tastes.

Low Fat Egg Nog
1 1/2 c. egg substitute
2 tbsp. artificial sweetener
2 tbsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. brandy extract
1 can non-fat evaporated milk

Pour egg substitute in large bowl. Add sweetener and vanilla. Add 3 cups evaporated milk and brandy extract. Chill for 24 hours to blend flavors. 72 calories, 1/2 gram of fat.

Number of Servings: 9

You have the same idea I have. :-) I also add lots of lowfat milk to my store bought eggnog. I think it’s too thick straight from the carton anyway since they are figuring people will add alcohol to it.

These sure sound great! I’m going to try and make the first one. I never knew making eggnog was this easy!

We’re not supposed to use uncooked eggs, so I have tried it with egg substitute of good quality.
Not with artificial sweetener and extracts.

    It worked fine.
