Do You Grow Your Own?
Now, I wouldn’t go this far simply because the boys need some grassy spaces to run and play without stepping on plants. But still I’m feeling a little inspired.

I\'m Summer, a mouthy, sarcastic bitch. I\'m passionate about natural birth, long term breastfeeding, and living naturally. I curse too much, love tattoos, and will some day be crushed to death by my book collection. I homeschool, dream of gardening, and swing to the left.

Yes, yes, yes!!! We miss the grass for running around, but then I just send the kids to the neighbors. Our entire back yard looks like a salad bowl. Yum.
Yup, this is how we do it,too! Although right now since we’re living in temp housing, the big garden is “borrowed” land (we “pay” for the space w/ veggies). The backyard here is small and no grass grows anyway so we’ve just made raised beds for herbs ,flowers and some other stuff and lots and lots of container gardening. There’s woods with a nice clearing that the kids play in and we’re a 5 minute walk from the park. Our driveway is occupied by potted plants instead of a car
The only non-local things we buy now are coffee, tea, rice, avocados and of course chocolate.Oh..and bananas, oranges and olives.
It sounds so tempting. Ugh, I wish we owned rather than rented. Dearest hates me doing too much with just a rental house.
Summer
LOVE IT!!!!!!!
I said to my husband, “We need more land!” But didn’t he say he has a tenth of an acre?? I am SO feeling inspired to do even more than we’re doing now. Just wish we had that nice Southern California weather . . .
We started small and converted the landlords so they do this stuff now too. But I won’t say we’ve gotten to the bicylce powered flour mill stage yet! Although I have a broken down bike. Hmmmmm….
