Stopping shopping at Christmas
Doesn’t that seem like a great idea? I know it does around here. The stress, the costs, the mass consumerism. In reality though I know I’d never live it down being the one who didn’t get any gifts for anyone this year.
I’ve decided to start a new tradition around holiday time, one that hopefully the boys will love. All gifts must come from the heart first, the store last. For instance this year for my SIL (not giving anything away ere since she doesn’t read this) I know how stressed and tired she is raising three kids by herself. So I wrapped up a big mug, some hot cocoa, a sweet smelling candle, and a good book. The best part is everything was bought second hand at the local thrift shop. For my MIL I dug through my huge basket of bath goodies and made her a smaller basket with soaps, lotions, and body sprays out of things I haven’t even opened yet. My mother and grandmother are getting framed pictures of the boys, because they’re always asking if I have new pictures of them yet.
See what gifts you can put together this year too!

Awesome ideas, MC! And not only are you giving from the heart, but your second hand purchases are eco-friendly. Al Gore would be proud!
I’m going to peruse those links now. Thank you so much!
