Hi! Welcome...

Wired For Noise I\'m Summer, a mouthy, sarcastic bitch. I\'m passionate about natural birth, long term breastfeeding, and living naturally. I curse too much, love tattoos, and will some day be crushed to death by my book collection. I homeschool, dream of gardening, and swing to the left.

Homeschooling Nomads Unite

So, remember that homeschooling thing I’m doing. Yeah, let’s talk about things that don’t get my blood pressure up. *cough*Nestle*cough*

Since we’re looking at history in order (Classical style) we’re moving into Mesopotamia. Which just has me in all sorts of giggles and smiles. But last week we talked about before people set up villages and cities, and the word nomad came up.

Say it with me: Nomad. There’s just something about that word, I love the way it rolls off my tongue.

After we did some reading I loaded the kids up in the car and we drove down to visit family for a bit. Now, Evan has been super obsessed with RVs lately. Ever since Christine moved away. That’s only partially because I’ve been obsessed with them. Suddenly, as we’re driving down the highway and he’s pointing out all the big RVs, it dawns on him. Yes, there are modern day nomads.

Which really proves my point about how I talk and talk and talk and he hears nothing, but put a shiny book in his face and suddenly he grasps rocket science.

Anyway. We stopped at a gas station for the mandatory “I gotta pee!” break, because mama doesn’t know what she’s talking about when she says go before we leave. There, right in front of us, is Evan’s Mecca. Or five shiny, big RVs. They were all standing about, stretching their legs, and chatting about how the trip was so far. From what I could tell they had to wait because another person on their trip had a rv breakdown somewhere and needed to catch up. I don’t know where they were going, but it sounded like quite an adventure.

And yeah, I’m jealous as heck. I want a big, honking RV. And the money to drive that sucker. Or maybe just the money to convert it to veggie oil and solar power. A girl can dream, can’t she?

It’s our dream too and hopefully one that will be happening in the near future. We want to be part time, leaving the northeast for the winters, hopefully starting next year.
