Independence Day
I’ve had this tradition for about four years now every Forth of July I start the day with the same song, usually repeating it constantly during the day. It’s a song that sort of sums it all up for me. [lyrics here]
Here’s the rest of my play list for the day. Make sure you’ve got fireworks in hand.
- Lightning Storm – Flogging Molly
- Revolution – Authority Zero
- God Save the USA – Pennywise
- Stars and Stripes – Circle Jerks
- 911 For Peace – Anti-Flag
- Stars and Stripes of Corruption – Dead Kennedys
- (You Are) The Government – Bad Religion
- State of the Union – Rise Against
*Note: There are a few more songs I’m enjoying today, but I can’t find them on YouTube to share. Songs like Miss Freedom by Bad Brains, Founding Fathers by MDC, and Your Gov’t Loves You by Future Leaders of the World.

Nice track. Nice dose of reality too.
Thanks for the idear – I started thinking of American Idiot and cranked the Green Day bluegrass album. 10 years ago I never would’ve imagined that their career would last more than a couple of albums.
I think I’ll print out the lyrics.
I hope you had a fun holiday too!
Ha! Awesome playlist. Coulda used it yesterday… but I’ll still enjoy it today.
