Locked Out Of Wordpress

lock and chain

Anyone who was following me on Twitter over the weekend got to watch my near mental breakdown as Wordpress decided it would be best to change my password and not tell me. Then to add salt to the wound every thing I tried to get back in failed miserably.

I have to give some credit to my soon to be ex-host, Go Daddy. I called enough times to have the tech support number memorized and all I ever seemed to get were variations on “delete it and start all over” and “you can’t do that“. After a last few tearful tries this morning, and trust me there were tears, I was finally able to get back into my blog. I’m not computer savvy, so I couldn’t begin to tell you what I did. I started with this Wordpress password reset, winging it since nothing was where it was supposed to be. Then I threatened to delete it and give up blogging forever, managed not to tell the 30th tech support guy I talked to what I really felt about the situation, and ate a piece of leftover birthday cake to feel better.

After everything I managed to get the password changed and get logged back into my blog. And after a weekend of stress over the thing Dearest has offered my belated birthday present to be a switch from Go Daddy. I’m going to be moving to AN hosting, especially since Upstart Blogger is offering a promotional deal with them.

Whew! I feel better now that I’m back in. And I’ve got my files all downloaded and saved on my computer so hopefully if it happens again I won’t be so stressed out.

I would flip out if I lost access to my blog. Yikes! I am glad you got back in.
