Everyone knows I’ve been jonesing to go to Blogher this year. After two years of watching from the sidelines at home I’m practically twitching at the thought of actually being there. Which is why things like this make me squeal. MomDot and Label Daddy are offering a Label Daddy BlogHer 09 Sponsorship for some lucky blogger.
Excuse me while I stop hyperventilating at the idea.
Seriously, getting a sponsorship would be absolutely amazing. Funds are still tight for us, paying for BlogHer solely myself just would not happen this year. Even with Dearest’s new job, we still have things that need to be caught up on and taken care of. And honestly, the job isn’t turning out to be the lifesaver we thought it would be when he got it. Yes, we’re beyond blessed that he was able to get a new job after only a month of being off work, especially in this economy, but promises that were made when the company was courting him aren’t being completely held up now. He’s facing the same insane amount of hours as his last job, but with twice the responsibility, half the staff, and several thousand dollars less in pay.
At his old job he worked all afternoon and night, then slept all day. So while I was practically a single mom, at least I had access to the car during the day to go somewhere and escape. With his new job, however, he works from open til close, which is roughly 8 AM to 9 PM. And in this one car household it means I’m trapped here with the kids all day long, alone, and unable to go anywhere to unwind. I love my boys, but sometimes mama just needs to sit on the bench at the park and listen to the birds instead of their constant screaming.
Getting to go away for a couple days, sans kids and responsibilities would be a dream come true. For everyone really. They would get a couple days at the grandparents, being spoiled rotten, Dearest would have a silent house to himself, and I would be far away in the land of grown-ups. OK, so I would still have the baby with me but that’s a small thing. All I need is my sling and it’s a piece of cake. Besides new baby at a conference full of women, it would be like being voted Prom Queen. I’d be the most popular woman there, or at least the little bundle would be.
So I’m writing this begging, BEGGING, to be the lucky mom chosen to get to go to BlogHer this year. It would be like a dream vacation in the land of grown-ups. Plus, if I am chosen, I’ll let you cuddle the baby without having to do any diaper changes. You can’t beat a deal like that!
