Not Back To School Hop – My Space
Welcome to week 2 of the Not Back to School Hop.

This week we’re sharing our school room pictures. Or school bookshelf pictures. Or whatever learning space you have and love. We don’t have a “school room” really, unless you count the entire world. But I do have a little bit of a learning area. Sort of. Kinda. In a way. OK, I have a box…
Well, like I shared before we’re really kind of play it by ear around here. So I keep a box of things like paper, crayons, paints, glue, etc.. There are also some folders for keeping any important papers separate and organized. Yeah, like I’m ever organized.
Since we’re doing history/geography as our only “real” subjects this year we have a nice little globe to play with. I also have a giant wall map, but we haven’t gotten around to hanging it up just yet. But that’s OK, the globe has been a blast since we got it. I think I’ve answered more “Where is this?” questions this last week than in my lifetime.
And on our living room wall I still have up the word lists from when Evan was learning to read. He still enjoys going through them fairly often, and refers back to them when sounding out other words. Plus, it makes me feel less nervous when people come over. i can point to the lists and say “See, I’m teaching!”.
So that’s our learning space, more or less. Of course there’s also the yard, and the block, and the town, and the state, and the world. But that’s true of every family whether they homeschool or not.

That’s cute. We have words on our fridge that the kids are learning for their reading. We are like you learning throughout the house and everywhere else.
Hey, I have that exact same globe. I just got it last month to replace the one we had for 7 years and had ended up in two halves (honestly it was the 5 or so moves in those 7 years that destroyed the last one, not the kids). Thank you for sharing on the Blog Hop.
That is cute. I love that everything fits in a box. Thanks for sharing. PS I still have last years art/poetry project up on our wall!
Love your word lists. It really does help to have them up and always-visible, doesn’t it? The kids start reading them without even meaning to.
Sneaky teaching. heh heh
I hope you have a great year!
I love using our globe. We recently invested in a Geo Safari or something or another like that, which incorporates games, quizzes and music. It has been very engaging!
Thanks for joining in on the NBTS Blog Hop!
I just wanted to share that right now I’m using your wall lists for my little guy. He’s reading the words he writes, no problem!
Awesome! I felt weird using them at first, it was too school-ish for me. But When Evan started randomly reading the lists just because, I fell in love. Isn’t it amazing how they’ll read their own words son easily!
