‘Tis The Season

It's Christmas time

I’ve been busy the last week or so. Trying to whip up last minute holiday gifts, and remembering that last year I swore to get a better start. I’m pretty sure I’ll suck again next year too.

Add to that the boys’ best friends next door are gone. No warning, no time to prepare. Today I step outside and see a moving van in their front yard, boxes being loaded up. They came over to play some this evening, I took a picture of all four of them then printed out a copy for each, and then they got in the car and drove away. Now I’ve got two very sad little boys wondering why the boy and girl they played with every day are suddenly gone.

And for extra fun, I’m just in a funk. A funkity funk funk funk. I don’t really want to blog, or write, or be productive in any way. It feels like pulling teeth just to get me to put away dishes or vacuum the floor. I’m pretty sure I go through this every winter too, but each time I just want to chunk my blog out the window and shut off the internet. Then mope around on the couch for a few days doing nothing.

Damn kids, expecting me to parent and shit. Won’t let me enjoy my blah-ness in peace.

But hey, enough about me. How’s it with you?

  1. Oh man! That totally sucks about your boys’ friends moving with no warning. What a bummer. And I hear you on winter blahs. I’ve got em too. Every year. Well, it’s almost solstice and then we’re on our way to brighter skies. Hang in there.

I am still in denial on the Christmas crafting. Some part of me honestly believes I can pull this off. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

I had the blahs last month, then the sun came out here and things aren’t so bad. I hope you find the trick to breaking out of your funk, soon.

I’m coming out of lurkdom to say please don’t chuck your blog out the window. I would miss it. It’s my fave.

In an ideal world we’d be de-stressing from this sometimes overwhelming job of parenting by moping around for a couple of days on a sun lounge in the Maldives. Lacking that, the couch is fine. I wish you a speedy recovery from the winter blahs, from sunny Australia.

  4. Awww…the boys must be really sad. That’s how I felt whenever a playmate from the neighborhood moves out when I was a kid. It’s sad, but it happens.
