Workbook queen

When I first decided I was going to homeschool E, which was before he was even born, I went a little crazy. OK, maybe more than a little. I knoew it was what I wanted, I knew my reasoning was sound, I knew I could do it. But I had no clue WHAT to do. So in a frenzy one light I ordered every workbook I could find on Ebay. There they sit, a nice stack of workbooks covering every subject that a young child could need.

Now that I’m a bit more secure, and a lot less fearful, I keep planning to sell them back off on ebay again. But part of me wants to hold on. Maybe its the packrat in me that keeps every single little thing my children have ever touched. Or maybe there’s part of me that is still a little afraid.

Looking at my personal book shelf you’ll find more workbooks. Workbooks for things that I wanted to learn more about, workbooks for books that I read, I’ve even still got the workbooks that we did in my childbirth class all those years ago.

OK, so maybe I’ve just got a thing for workbooks. If nothing else they’ve got pretty pictures for E to color all over.

Homeschooling must be kinda scary at first for parents. Well, I’d be scared anyway ! Scared not to be up to the expected standards, scared to discover it’s actually a lot of work etc.

Just curious, why did you decide to homeschool your kids ? You might have said it before on your blog but I haven’t read everything yet ;)

I think homeschooling isn’t allowed in France where I’m from. But seems very widespread in Canada and in the USA.

I think you got off lightly with just the workbooks. I have math kits, computer curriculum, textbooks, historical novels, science terms in happy musical format and dozens of other things my kids will never touch but which have created a blarney stone of comfort for me.
